Product Description

This 100% linen gambeson is sewn to replicate the style of quilted cloth armor that would have been worn in early Medieval northern Europe. Constructed and hand-quilted with 28 layers of natural canvas-weight linen, with every fourth layer cut on the bias, a small piece tested with authentic Medieval weaponry actually stopped steel-tipped arrows! (Arrows were fired from a 45-pound medieval-type long bow.)

This gambeson is completely hand-sewn and hand-quilted with waxed natural linen thread, and is made to size with lacing up the sides for easy adjustment and removal. A low collar prevents chain mail from rubbing at the neck, and a smaller number of layers in the sleeves to allow for ease of movement.

Please include your accurate measurements (chest, waist, hips, shoulder width, back length, and desired total length of gambeson) when ordering to ensure a proper fit. Spindle, Shuttle, and Needle is not responsible for ill-fitting garments due to poor measurements.
