This ball winder is handmade on a wood lathe by a woodworker here in Nebraska from Nebraska-grown wood-- choose from elm, oak, or poplar. A ball winder, or Nostepinne (nest-stick) is a Scandinavian tool used to make a center-pull ball of yarn for ease of working with your hand-spun yarn. Simply loop your yarn around the groove at the end of the ball winder, leave the yarn end hanging from the end of the ball winder, and wind your yarn around the ball winder as if winding a normal ball of yarn. When finished, pull your yarn off the ball winder and you will have a lovely center-pull ball of yarn, ready to use!
Ball winder is made of poplar, oak, or elm, and is approximately 10 inches (25 cm) long. Due to the handmade nature of this item, size and color may vary. $16.00 |
